On 12 and 13 November 2026, Club Italia, the Italian association dedicated to electronic ticketing systems and mobility technologies, holds a convention with a technical visit in Verona. The programme covers six themes: customer-oriented service strategies, electronic ticketing and digital payments, real-time passenger information, passenger security and fare evasion, artificial intelligence, and fare integration. The Pysae team will attend as visitors.
What is Club Italia?
Club Italia (ContactLess technologies User Board) is a non-profit association that promotes payment and access systems based on electronic cards, mobile and contactless technology, integrated with passenger information, across Italy. It brings together transport companies, public bodies and technology suppliers.
Its signature format is the convention with a technical visit, held several times a year in a different city: in 2026 Club Italia has already been to Turin (25-26 March) and Pescara (25-26 June), after Siena in November 2025.
When and where is the Verona convention?
The event takes place on 12 and 13 November 2026 at the Lounge Arch of Villa Brasavola De Massa, Piazza Cittadella, Verona. Experts, transport companies, institutions and technology suppliers take part. Registration, the programme and hotel information are on the official event page.
Which topics are on the agenda?
Club Italia has announced six workstreams:
- Service strategies built around customer needs
- Electronic ticketing and digital payment methods
- Real-time passenger information, personalised to each traveller
- Passenger security and measures against fare evasion
- Artificial intelligence for planning, service management and customer support
- Fare integration
Why should ticketing and real-time information be designed together?
On board a bus, the validator, the passenger counter, the displays and the AVM all rely on the same data: the vehicle's position, the trip in service, the next stop. When these systems are disconnected, each device builds its own version of reality, and the inconsistencies reach the passenger.
Three points matter most for anyone running a network:
- One source of on-board data. Location and trip data should be shared by every on-board system rather than recomputed by each one, which is a core item of what an AVM should cover in 2026.
- Information based on actual vehicle position. Reliable times require knowing where each vehicle is against its planned trip. Our article on GTFS-RT in practice explains the chain from GPS to the passenger's screen.
- The right data format for each authority. Requirements for GTFS-RT, SIRI and NeTEx differ across Europe, as shown in our overview of the real-time data standard each country requires.
What does artificial intelligence change for public transport?
AI is only useful when it works on complete, clean operating data: trips actually run, delays, loads. That is why planning and service management applications almost always start from the same prerequisite, an AVM that continuously records what happens on the network.
What will we do in Verona?
We will be in Verona to hear from operators and authorities about their ticketing and passenger information projects, and to join the technical visit. We will publish a recap after the convention.
Will you be in Verona too? Get in touch: the Pysae team will be glad to meet you and show you how our AVM feeds passenger information and works with on-board systems.
